DIY: Eye Make-Up Remover

This is a fun quick DIY  post as I’m going to show you how to make your own Eye Make-Up Remover.

Perfect for Waterproof Mascaras and Eyeliners.

All you are going to need is  Rose water and some Olive or Almond oil  and you are done.

Rose water is a natural toner so an alternative use for it would be to use it on your face before going to bed, it’s also an antioxidant so it cleanses and tones your skin, helping to prevent break outs and blemishes.

I chose almond oil rather than olive oil because it’s my favourite oil to moisturise with, it leaves my skin so soft and radiant, it’s also perfect for the eye area as it moisturises whilst melting away your make-up.

Add one part oil and two parts rose water in a travel size bottle, and give it a good old shake before you start removing your make up.

Usually it will separate again so make sure you shake it well before each use.

The natural oil is going to break the make-up particles and remove it, the rose water is going to soothe and cleanse the excess oil from your skin.

P.S you can get rose essence from any Holland and Barrett’s, they have a more concentrated formula so if you have this one just make sure you dilute it with some water first. You can easily get rose water in any health food store or eastern shops.

This is a very cheap and natural alternative to the high street eye makeup removers. My DIY eye makeup remover cost me less than £3 for all the ingredients and you can make at least three or four bottles lasting for ages.

Charles Worthington Straightening Brush

Do you want poker straight hair? Well this brush may be for you!

I stumbled across this brush a few months ago, whilst doing my Christmas shopping in TK MAX. I’m telling you this beauty is not joking!

The instructions say that you should use it with your hair dryer, clamp the brush over your hair starting from the roots, work it slowly downwards, following with the dryer and repeat this until hair is dry.
I let my hair dry naturally because I simply can't be bothered, and because my hair is fine I can get away with it, I then repeat the same process as before but with my straighteners instead of my brush, it takes about 10-15 minutes to do the whole of my hair.

The bristles of the brush are made of natural bristles, underneath there are ceramic plates which help evenly distribute the heat into your hair leaving your hair smooth and straight.

I bought this brush for £3.99 what a bargain ey? It’s still being sold in TK MAX so go check it out ladiesss ;)

L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow Review

I have only tried two of the L'Oreal Infallible Eye shadows, the 005 Purple Obsessions and the 016 Coconut Shake; in my opinion they are Rubbish! I’m not sure where to start with it, but let’s start with the price. For £6.99 in the high street I expect this eye shadow to have super powers! I would also expect it to be pigmented with good lasting power and amazing colour payoff. I don’t think I’m asking for much, or am I?

I am not sure if I picked the two worst shades in the range as I have heard good reviews about others, let me start with the first eye shadow, Purple Obsession, when I first touched it, it felt sooo soft and very pigmented I was WOWED! By it and I bought it immediately, the problem is it doesn’t come out pigmented at all on my eyes, I love to have nice purple Smokey eyes, but when I put this eye shadow on my lids it comes out as a little wash of colour almost looking like dirt, I also tried it with different eye shadow bases like painterly from MAC, but it’s hopeless! So I have never actually worn it outside of the house.

I prefer the other eye shadow, Coconut Shake, but not that much to pay £6.99 for it. It is very chalky especially if applied using a brush, it’s slightly better when I apply it with my fingers and lasts OK, but it’s still a bit of a rip off for the quality.
Have you tried any other shades? And are they better quality?

Nailed by Sleek!

If you have read my previous post Nail Polish Mania you would know that I am a sucker for Pound shop nail polishes. I still buy nail polishes from regular high street shops, but still I cant say no to a BARGAIN,
can you?

Recently this has become a habit of mine, more likely an addiction. every time I find myself near a Pound Shop I have to go in and check their nail polishes! I think I may own every shade that they have in stock at the moment.
My recent find is this gorgeous turquoise shade from Sleek Nail polishes.

I was scared it wouldn't suit my skin tone but I have found it suits me very well. The brush is a little small but I prefer it to bigger brushes as I have short nails and end up with a very messy application. The application is slightly streaky, but the streaks disappear with the second coat.
I think that this shade may become my favourite shade for the spring, along with my Sally Hansen's Salon Manicure in Green Tea (also from a Pound shop) Don't you just love bargains?

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Review

I finally purchased the famous Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation  after reading lots and lots of good reviews about it, so I thought it’s time to try it out for myself! I even heard some people comparing it to the Channel Vita Lumiere and saying it’s the perfect dupe. So being on a budget I decided to buy the Bourjois Foundation especially because it was on offer for £7.99 in Boots.
The foundation claims to last 16 hours, but sadly I would say it lasts maximum 4 hours without a primer), which is what I would look for in a foundation since I’m not a big primer- wearer. Bearing in mind that my skin is dry (so I would not recommend this for an oily skin) it comes out dewy when you first apply it but then turns into a more matte finish (velvety maybe). It also claims to have fruit vitamins in it that help make your skin better, but I don’t think that I have noticed any remarkable changes to my skin whilst using it; I would have to admit though that the smell is delicious!!!! The coverage is light to medium and build-able so I wouldn't recommend this for you, if you have blemishes or you usually go for full coverage. I usually have my foundations slightly darker to give me a little tan so I got mine in shade 56 light bronze which I think is the darkest shade, so unfortunately that is not good for darker skin tones either ( I have olive skin). The full price for this foundation is £ 10.99 which I think might be slightly more expensive than other drugstore brands.

So let me sum this up for you, shall I!

Light to medium coverage, slightly dewy, not enough shades for darker skin tones and doesn't last as long as it claims.

The question is would I buy this again? And my answer would be NO; there are far more better foundations in the drugstore than this one.

I hope you found this review somewhat helpful and if you have this foundation please tell me what do you think of it?

ST. IVES Invigorating Apricot Scrub Review

Hello my lovelies!

Today I am going to talk about a product that I have re-discovered recently, I am absolutely in love with the St Ives Apricot Scrub. I tried this product ages ago and I really liked it but it wasn’t mine, for some reason I never remembered to buy it myself. But I’m glad I finally did as this scrub is now my HOLY GRAIL. It leaves my skin so soft and clean and it doesn’t dry it out at all which makes it a super hero scrub considering my skin is a bit on the dry side. I use it 3-4 times a week and sometimes more, it usually depends on whether I am wearing make-up or not, as sometimes I scrub before I put make up on for extra smoothness ;)

This product claims to be:
Oil free.
100% natural exfoliants
100% natural extracts
No parabens, no phthalates and no animal ingredients (which is a plus).

That’s lovely because even though my skin is dry and sensitive it never felt irritated or had any redness after using this product. The main ingredient in this scrub is Apricot which is high in antioxidants and carotenoids (orangey pigments + rich in vitamin A), the second and third ingredients are Corn Kernel Meal and Walnut. Corn Kernel Meal is actually flour ground from dried corn. It’s a soft, but gently powerful all-natural exfoliant that promotes skin cell turnover and regeneration. Cornmeal makes skin softer and I actually tried some DIY masks made out of cornmeal and yogurt and it actually works! it makes my skin baby bum soft. Walnut is known for its hard shell, but when it’s ground, it becomes an amazingly effective all-natural exfoliant that helps newer skin come to the surface.
So you have two types of exfoliants in this scrub which I think is an added benefit. Long story short I do really like this scrub and i will re-purchase.

So there’s my review of the St.Ives invigorating apricot scrub, I hope you guys have enjoyed it J
